Home/Renderings

See it on your house before you spend a dollar.

We take a photo of your actual home, run it through rendering software, and hand you back a picture of your own house wearing the color you are thinking about. It is free, it takes a couple of days, and it costs you nothing to say no afterward.

  • CostFree, no obligation
  • TurnaroundUsually two to three days
  • What we needA few photos of the house

Why we do this

Nobody can picture a whole roof from a three inch sample.

A shingle sample in a driveway is about the size of a playing card, held at arm's length, in whatever light happens to be out that day. Then it goes on two thousand square feet of roof against your siding, your trim and your trees, and it can look like a completely different color.

That is how people end up living with a choice they never really made. A rendering removes the guessing entirely. You are not imagining it, you are looking at it, on your own house, from the street where everybody else will see it.

It is also the cheapest possible moment to change your mind. Once material is ordered, changing color means restocking fees and a delay. Before it is ordered, changing your mind costs nothing but the two minutes it takes to tell us.

Examples

What you actually get back.

These are real jobs. On the left, the house as it stands today. On the right, the same house rendered with the material being considered. Drag the divider on the first one.

A large house photographed from above with its existing dark, weathered roof A rendering of the same house showing how it would look with new brown architectural shingles Before, real photo Rendering

The right hand side is a computer rendering, not a photograph of finished work. It shows the material on the real house so you can judge the color in place.

A full exterior

Before, real photo A manufactured home with dated brown trim and a dry, patchy lawn
Rendering A rendering of the same manufactured home with new white siding and skirting

Side by side rather than a slider because the two frames are not shot from matching positions. The right hand image is a rendering.

A roof color change

Before, real photo A ranch style house from above with a pale, worn roof
Rendering A rendering showing the same style of house with new brown architectural shingles

The rendering is a ground level view and the existing roof was photographed from the air, so these are shown as a pair rather than a slider.

How it works

Four steps, and none of them cost you anything.

  1. Send us photos, or we take them. Two or three shots of the house from the street, in daylight, is usually plenty. If you would rather we came out and took them, we will.
  2. Tell us what you are considering. A color you saw on another house, a brand you were shown, or nothing at all. If you have no idea, we will put up two or three options.
  3. We render it and send it over. Usually two to three days. You get the images by text or email, whichever is easier for you.
  4. You decide, or you do not. There is no charge and no obligation. Plenty of people look at a rendering and decide to wait a year, and that is a completely fine outcome.
Rendering A rendering file as delivered to a customer, with the word Rendering marked across the top

Every file we send is marked, so months later there is no confusion about which pictures were real and which were the plan.

Straight answer

A rendering is a picture of a plan, not a promise.

It is an accurate look at the color and profile on your house. It is not a photograph of finished work, and we will never show you one and let you think it is.

Real shingles weather. Light changes through the day. A rendering gets you far closer than a sample board ever will, and we would rather tell you where the limit is than have you find it after the material is on the roof.
